Dr. Annette Sobel Named To Girl Scouts Of The Missouri Heartland’S Board Of Directors

Longtime community and national volunteer Dr. Annette Sobel has been named to the Board of
Directors for Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland. Currently Assistant to the Provost for
Strategic Opportunities and an Adjunct Professor in three departments at the University of
Missouri-Columbia, Sobel’s professional experience includes two years as New Mexico’s
Homeland Security Director and retirement from the Air National Guard at the rank of Major
General. She received her Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University, her Master of Science
from Wright State University, and her Medical Doctorate from Case Western Reserve School of
Medicine.

“We are thrilled to have such a distinguished and experienced role model for girls as Dr. Sobel
on our Board of Directors,” said CEO Jennifer M. Orban, “Dr. Sobel’s experience and skills will
help us advance our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character.” In addition
to extensive skills in strategic planning and humanitarian causes, Sobel brings experience as
board member of both Girl Scouts of the USA and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl
Scouts. An advocate for girls, particularly for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and
math) programs, Sobel joins a nineteen-member board as a member-at-large.
